    Hello
This Q might have been asked before but not sure.
I have Seagate FreePlay 1tb 2.5" Hard Drive that came out from my WD 1tb hdd. It wont go on my laptop so I need USB 3.0 2.5mm drive enclosure that i can fit my Freeplay on it.

I am also looking for any cheep 60+ GB pref 100+ GB Sata III 6Gbps SSD. This will be my 1 SSD so I don't know whats out there right now and for how much.

I am planing on getting Sager 8130 and put SSD as main drive and install main daily needed soft and games on ssd. and Install and run other normal junk like movie and stuff from usb 3.0 enclosure unless if i can fit my freeplay on opticl drive HDD caddy. then i will just swap around my optical drive and HDD. If it fit inside then were do i find HDD caddy for 8130.

    Thanks in Adv
    Max

Right now, the only SATA III (6 Gbps) SSD drives out are the C300s. We expect new ones to be announced in a few weeks, although I don't think you can call any SATA III drive "cheap". As for your external enclosure, make sure it will accept 12.5 mm drives, not just the standard 9.5 mm drives. An ODD caddy is probably workable, but you'll have to check eBay or a place like Newmodeus for one. It looks like you'd be looking for a standard 12.7 mm SATA ODD caddy.

Especially with the current OCZ "issue", SSD prices are a bit high (except for OCZ drives :p ). If you're asking what the differences for other (current) drives are from the C300, then it really depends on the specific drive. SSDs vary in performance just like regular HDDs do, having different maximum/minimum performance, power draw, and such. The truth is that at the high end, though, you probably won't notice much in terms of performance difference for most drives. If, on the other hand, you're asking how the upcoming SATA III (6 Gbps) drives are, since they haven't been released yet, actual performance is all speculation. The drives we're expecting are the Intel 510 series, the Vertex 3, and the C400. You might want to wait for the release of the C400, just because it's likely to drive down the cost of the C300. Of course, once it comes out, you may want to get a C400 instead, so.... and the price for these drives, that we've heard, hovers at over $2/GB, for the most part. Unless you're willing to go Sandforce (or lower performance... some would argue that Sandforce _is_ somewhat lower performance), you're not going to get much below $2/GB... yet (and even good Sandforce is $1.5/GB or more).

For the SATA cable and USB power idea, maybe, if you can get the right cables (more worried about the USB power cable at that point, SATA cables are easy to find). Getting an ODD shouldn't be too hard, though. Most ODD bays are pretty standardized (apart from the whole PATA/SATA thing), so you can _probably_ get an ODD for something like, say, a Clevo W860CU/Sager NP8690 to fit inside your 8130. Probably. Try asking in the Sager/Clevo subforum, they should have better ideas. As for regular external enclosures, I know that Newegg has some that will fit 12.5 mm drives.

Oh, even the 1 TB ones are 15 mm? I thought just the 1.5 TB ones.

It may be better to find a drive that will fit 15 mm, yes, just in case. I suspect the drive you linked cannot, but I admit I cannot tell for sure. Any enclosure that says it can take up to 1 TB drives should be able to fit at least 12.5 mm drives (since all current 1 TB 2.5" drives are 12.5 mm), but 15 mm drives are so rare that I'm not sure what enclosures might be made to fit them.
