Not that I know of, I can't wait until their hybrid-drives are out,

They will probably be pretty pricey though.

What revisions are being made to the .2 version? I can't access the pdf file for some reason (IE error).

    SATA, 80, 100, 120, 160 GB
    Buffer: 8 mb, 16 mb (160)
    Heads: 2, 4 (160)

The rest seems the same as the previous generation according to the pdf. They do not incorporate the perpendicular recording technology the high performance 5400.3 does.

Its nice to see larger hard disks available, that will perform better than the current range of high capacity hard disks. It seems that Seagate have increased the cache size to 16 MB aswell, which should mean a slight performance boost in larger file transfers.

I just hope the hybrid drives don't require any kind of special drivers or anything, or if they do, they release the specs. I'd hate to not be able to benefit from something like that ;)

I read something about mid-2007 somewhere, don't quote me on that though, from what I hear they should be faster than existing 7200RPM implementations.

They will only for for windows Vista though I believe (the hybrid drives that is). I believe the OS gets put on the SS portion, which improves response time immensely, as well as allows the OS to load in seconds.

Is there chance of any laptop HDD's in the 120gb or more 7200rpm flavor?

Will we be able to use them on any laptop though? I would think it would simply be a matter of Vista and the drivers rather than anything else. And those should work together well enough. Hybrid drives=Love for me, as that's just one less thing that I'd be missing out on from Santa Rosa.

Depends if they make them in 2.5" format or not I suppose. I imagine so, but they might come after 3.5" models are introduced.
