I have the WD3200BEKT sitting here on my desk waiting for my m1530 to arrive. It would be interesting to run the same benchmark when I get it. I was almost going to get the free fall version WD3200BJKT for a few dollars more but the WD3200BEKT was more readily available and in my 15+ years of owning laptops I have never even come close to dropping one.

to increase slightly the performance of your HDD and get burst rate like mine, change to ATA configuration for SATA in the bios

it might get you a BSoD but you can always change back

I also have the 320gb 7200.3 in my M1330. How do you guys fell about the noise? I think it's quite noiseless when on table, but if you move the lappy at all you'll hear quite loud... Otherwise I'm happy with it. I upgraded it myself, didn't get it from Dell.

Just noticed this review in the Dell section. So much for the theory that ASGs are faster.

In one of the other threads there was someone stating the ASGs were faster than the AS versions. I've looked up a couple of result and found it to be not true.

    Hi,

After reading some great reviews on this drive, I bought it, and swapped out the 60GB drive on my PS3.

After a week of using it now, I've noticed that the fan (which has 3 speeds) is now nearly continuously on the 2nd speed, whereas before, it was never on.

Should I replace this drive with a WD Blue? Would that run cooler? I'm confused since the data sheet for the Seagate lists the following:

I retrieved the following information from the manufacturer's websites

    Power Management - Results (Seagate)
    Read/Write Avg - 2.1W
    Idle/Standby Avg - 0.75/0.21W

    Power Management - Results (WD)
    Read/Write Avg - 2.5W
    Idle/Standby Avg - 0.85/0.25W

Does this mean that the WD would run hotter since it uses more power?

Any clarification you could provide would be helpful, and recommendations on my situation.

I think this was coincidental. The 250 G 7200.3 that I put in my One operates at the same temps that the 160 G 5400.5 that came stock with it. It MIGHT be 1 degree higher, but that's it. I think the myth of faster drives always running way hotter is just that, a myth.

You may have changed something on the software level by mistake (Vista power setting to High Perf, etc), or something else. Again, I think it was coincidence.
