    I was planning to get a new harddrive for my laptop the other day a 7200.2, but then i found out that seagate had a new harddrive the 7200.3. Does anyone know when it is expected to be released for consumers to buy? Should i buy the 7200.2 now or wait X months.

    The 7200.3 is the third generation 7200rpm momentus series. The only difference is that it will offer greater speeds due to a higher data density. The drive is able to store 320gb on two disks rather than just 200Gb. This will give much higher benchies, but in reality it will be about $250 or more for the drive.

    I would actually go for a 5400rpm 320 gb drive or a hitachi 7k200 series drive since either can be had for about $130

    According to many sites that do not have it in stock, most of them say 2+ weeks, while one indicated in about 27 days. So roughly a month we should see these for retail.
