Barracuda. Just thinking of that garbage makes me shudder (I've replaced many dozens of such drives).

55TB of data writes per year? What are the platters made of? Pixie dust?

    Uhm, GB? Yeah right.

Doesn't seem too reliable this information?

Surprise: the cache is actually a 1.8" HDD hidden within the 3.5" drive :p.

FWIW 3TB and 4TB 2.5" Barracudas are rebrands of current 15mm drives. Also, they completely dumped 9.5mm form-factor - it's either 7mm or 15mm now. Source.

Dear me, did they really need to drop the 9mm drives? That's kind of bad for laptop users :(

@TomJGX it seems latest consumer and business-class mostly have 7mm 2.5" bay; only workstations and gaming laptops still cling to 9.5mm. Doesn't make this move any less bitter, though.

Seagate should write a manual on how to lose 10TB of data in an instant. Chapter 1, use a Seagate 10TB drive.

Eh, I've not had any issues with my Seagates. Then again, neither have I had issues with my WDs, Toshibas, etc.

Almost as if this is a matured technology or something :p

Or... if you have to constantly replace Seagates in the farm and you get tired of it after a while. HGST on the other hand, never had to replace one.

Also, big drives in the array = terrible idea.
