    Got an HP dv9500t.

Came with one standard 5400RPM hard drive. Can put a second one in it . . . would like a 250GB, or so, 7200 RPM in the open slot.

Do I need some kind of special bracket for the HP open hard drive slot . . . or can I order just any aftermarket hard drive?

    Suggestions?

You need a special bracket. Unfortunately, hp won't sell you a bare bracket either. You have to buy a '2nd hard drive option' from hp to get the bracket.

That's why I bought mine with dual HDD, even though I planned to replace them both immediately with Hitachi 7K200's.

Yes they will. It comes as a kit with the bracket, sata converter, and 4 screws.

    About $50 shipped.

Check partsurfer.hp.com and you should be able to find it.

Looked on partsurfer.hp.com . . . no seperate part or part number listed . . . only comes with the hard drive on the site.

Deputy, do you have a part number?

    Thanks.

I don't have the part #, but there are several threads in the HP forum containing it. There are also several ebay auctions. its the same as the DV9000.

If it is the same thing in the dv9500 as the dv9000, the part # is 434106-001, $39.00USD.
