Hi, what do you guys think would be the best way to record lectures on a laptop? I was looking through laptops but most of them have their webcam, if at all, installed at the front. Is it possible to install a camera on the other side of a laptop? And is there a better choice than a webcam?
Btw.. lectures aren't supposed to be recorded so it's not possible to use obvious camera.
Thanks for you help :) :)

Some have adjustable webcams, see if they can rotate to view the front of the laptop.

some notebooks have rotating cameras that you can flip to face the opposite direction (e.g. xps 1210, asus w5f, portableone ux)

yea but there's a very limited choice of those.
I was wondering if it's possible to install a webcam into a computer or something of that sort
Also would you please tell me of some other note books with rotating cams or is there a place where I can find a list?

unless you want to put on a smaller webcam that you can clip on top of the lcd screen, it isn't possible for you to just add to an existing notebook to look like other built in webcams.

Does anyone make a bluetooth webcam? Something like that could be hidden in a bag or something off to the side.

    Side question:
What type of class does not allow recording of the lecture?

Ahh, I only have 1-2 teachers who didnt like recording, but it was personal reasons (Voodoo, etc lol) and not an official policy.

Well, there may be copyright and intellectual property right issues with actual recording of a lecture, esp. for original research and publications by the professor. Not only that, but any student could potentially sell these recordings or publish them or engage in other commercial activity with them, and then the university would be losing money too.

Also, some professors reuse the same exact exams every year, and if you manage to tape down an entire test, inadvertently or otherwise, then that's another problem right there.

i need the vid to record board notes basically. And sometimes it happens that you start day dreaming for a few minutes and when you come back to reality.. the lecture is already too far ahead. It would be good if I could replay those parts.. especially in the really boring lectures..

Some professors offer online or hardcopy versions of their own notes. Others, even if they don't officially offer them, will be willing to let you borrow them if you ask them personally. Yet others aren't averse to selling their notes online or on paper--in fact, some even go so far as to bind them at the school print shop and then sell them for more :p
