All, I have read many threads on the SSD and different utils like secure erase and hdderase. I wanted to ask..

Is there a free, win7 utility that will allow me to hookup my ssd externally USB and secure erase or zero the drive to restore performance? I am about to do a full reload on the drive anyway and I thought this would be a great time to do it.

    Best Wishes, StevenX

nope. to more you used it the more your write speed goes down. try to find secure erase. your read speed always stays the same but your write speed never does.

Trim does not work over the USB interface. It requires a drive to be installed on SATA, because it uses the AHCI interface. Not even a wiper utility would work, for the same reason.

His only shot is to try Intel's toolbox.

Secure Erasing will not work through USB.

Wiping it can work through USB, but it will not restore performance as far as I know.

I've wiped drives through USB using Acronis True Image.
