I'm not able to get rid of the security lock on this Intel 320 when trying to secure erase using Intel Toolbox. The one time I was successful while power cycling the drive, it started and then failed every time at 40% saying that it couldn't initiate the secure erase command.

Searching extensively on google Parted Magic is the alternative that everyone seems to use. But it's unclear whether this is the same. Parted Magic seems to just zero out HDD's. Does it issue the ATA secure erase command for ssd's though?
