Yes, I know putting server on a laptop is not ideal, but it's a partitioned hard drive for learning and labs. It's not for production. The image has three partitions: Windows 7 x86, Server 2003 x86 and Server 2008 x64. The T3200 is x64 compatible and the image worked fine on other HP530's with a T5200 processor (though the Toshiba laptops was a whole other issue!), but Server 2008 x64 does not want to run on the one student's laptop who has a T3200.

I had to put a 64-bit OS on the machine due to Exchange Server 2007 being 64-bit as well.

    Any thoughts? TIA!

can you clarify "does not want to run"? will not install, you mean? any error message when trying to install?

Sorry! I should know better...it gives a message about the processor not being 64-bit compatible, though based on what I've read about the T3200, it wouldn't run at all if it weren't 64-bit compatible when it was installed (See Note 1 at bottom of this page: http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAVG)

    Thanks!

I'd say the BIOS is limiting the ability to run x64 code. Perhaps you could see if a newer BIOS will help.

Thanks for your response! I apologize, but my student has informed me that the processor is a T2300 and NOT a T3200. The T2300 won't support 64-bit, so we're on to Plan B...thanks again for trying, though!
