Get a Tyan motherboard, they are the best ;)

Go for a dual or quad socket board, cause you can always use one processor and than upgrade to a second one in teh future.

Most server boards use fb-dimms, and they can be very expensive. Their are only a handful of tyan and supermicro boards which use standard non-ecc ddr2 memory. ecc memory is very expensive, so you may have to buy a board which uses standard memory.

Some of the recent server boards now have a pci express port, which is nice, cause about a year ago every server board was limited to agp or pci-x.
I know my Tyan Tomcat has only PCI-X ports, so I use my Matrox Millenium PCI cards (16mb)

E-wiz, and zipzoomfly also have good deals and parts. You just have to go under the server tabs to find what you are looking for.

One other thing, check to see what harddrives your company needs. The high end drives use SAS (serial attached scsi) which offers the greatest bandwidth and reliability. SAS drives are really expensive, so if their is a budget, you may want to get a board which has sata ports on it as well, so you can use standard sata drives in the system.
