    Hello,
I own a HP Compaq 6910p with the Intel 965 Mobile chipset and an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 processor.Till now,I managed to obtain the 8th place in the top 100 on hwbot in SuperPI with the CPU at stock frequencies and with XP unoptimized and not fresh installed.
Unfortunately, the BIOS of the laptop doesn't offer any options for OC(you can't even change the memory timings or the memory frequencies,I had to do it from MemSet) so I can't raise the CPU frequencie for a better score in SPi.
If anyone can help me telling the SetFSB PLL for this chipset and what version of SetFSB should I use,I would be very thankful.
    Thanks a lot.

The only way to find out the PLL is to rip the system apart and find the PLL controller chip, and write down its model number.
Or you can helplessly try every combination PLL in Set FSB, Cpu COOl, or Clockgen.

Almost every laptop on the market does not have overclocking settings, so your not alone in that boat

    Good luck,

that's what i recommended before, however many said that doing this was very risky. Unless you have a core 2 extreme cpu (unlocked mult.), i really wouldnt bother trying to OC.... especially if your processor is fast enough already. have u considered the disadvantages of OCing? increased heat, decreased battery life, no warranty? lol i did a powerpoint guide to overoverclocking in my computing class last week ;)

I tried to use SetFSB 2.1.74,the newest version.
I think that if I would use the PLL for Intel P-965 Chipset it should work, but I don't know actually if the mobile chipset changes the PLL.I guess it shouldn't,cause the core is the same one, just that it is smaller and with a lower energy consume and the properties a little bit changed.Am I right?
I guess that the newer version of SetFSB includes the improvements brought by every version,so the version shouldn't be the problem here.
I will try every PLL which may have any relation with the 965 Mobile, hope it will work.
Hmm,no one here with a laptop using Intel 965 Mobile chipset which overclocked the CPU?

LE : the reason I try to overclock the CPU are the benchmarks.I try to obtain 1st place on hwbot in SuperPI in Core 2 Duo T8100,so I need to raise the frequencie a little bit.And please,do not ask me why do I want to do this,it's my passion and we will be offtopic.Thanks.

the PLL controller is different from system to system.
If you do take your system apart and note the PLL chip, you can look up datasheets on the PLL and figure out how to manually overclock by soldering wires to the different pinouts on the PLL chip.
Its dangerous, but if its your passion, go for it.
You can also email the manufacturer of the PLL and find out if they can send you a guide on working that PLL chip.

It doesn't deserve doing that for 3-4 points on hwbot.Actually,I never thinked volt-moding or hardware modifying to the laptop. What you say there is too complicated,I won't do it.
So I guess that the only solution that can resolve my problem is trying step-by-step all the PLL's from SetFSB,till I will hit the best one :D,the one which will let me OC the CPU.
    Thanks for advises,Kramer.

I know a guy at Cypress Technologies (PLL manufacturer) and he told me he is allowed to send user guides and manuals out for every PLL chip. The consumer just has to ask for it.
