I'll try to keep this short.
On the behalf of a friend, I'm asking what's the the best way to find the clock generator/motherboard number of a particular laptop. She has an HP dv4-1120us. I've been twiddling around with programs like CPU-Z, but I can't find a good answer.
Anyone know the motherboard off the top of their head, or know a reliable way to find it?

you need to open up the laptop and find the PLL
its on the MOBO -

Well, dang. I doubt she wants to do that.
Oh well. Thanks for the info. -
Everest professional may be able to show it. Google can be also helpful.

wait... not so fast!
try clockgen and try different pll's till you find one that reads your clocks correctly...
the problem with laptops is that in most cases you cant find you pll...
on my desktop i found my pll in 5 seconds... popped off the cover and there it was!
i occasionally overclock my lappy to 2.4 ghz... but it probably isnt worth it! -

Like I said, I'm doing this for a friend. I'm showing her how to use SetFSB.
And she's not comfortable with opening her laptop. -

HP like to TME lock their PLLs to prevent overclocking which you can check for ICS 9xxx PLLS with info linked from my sig plus info on how to overcome the TME overclocking prevention.
