I downloaded the free SetFSB for my N43SM, it reads ICS9148BF-26 as the clock generator.
I would like to raise the BLCK on this laptop.
How should I do it and how do I know I'm doing it properly?
Thanks In advance

2nd-gen i-core has an internal PLL. Extreme CPUs might have an adjustable BCLK but the M18xR1 folks say that only a max of 5% can be applied (100-105Mhz). I don't consider 2nd-gen i-cores overclockable unless they are a Xtreme CPU (i7-29x0XM) and the bios has an unlocked CPU. -
Hmm, so you're saying something bad or nothing at all will happen if I increase the value in SetFSB? D:

The bclk is determined by the motherboard, not the processor. However, you aren't going to get very high pushing the bclk.

I know, I know. But I just want to squeeze everything out of the CPU.

Nothing will happen because the pll is actually on your CPU.
Setfsb is useless for anything higher than 2nd gen.
What you can do is download intel XTU and increase the time that the CPU will stay in turbo mode, but that's if you're lucky and XTU is supported by your bios. -
As others said, the clock generator is now on the PCH rather than a separated chip and so many things now depend on it that it is simply impossible to raise it by any meaningful amount. Intel has locked it down pretty tightly.

A 103Mhz bclk wouldn't be out of the question. And it would effectively provide a multiplier of one step higher when on a high turbo multiplier. Of course it's probably not worth it.

XTU latest ver freezes in the splashscreen, I have to manually stop the process from task manager

That is what i personally do not consider meaningful hence my previous statement. I think anandtech managed to get it up to 105MHz on a desktop SNB, but again, very little gains.
SetFSB on N43SM? (HM65)
