    Hello

    The start.
It started some months ago, i was playing game and then the computer shut itself down. i tried to turn it on and switch turbo fans on, but the power button did not work at all, tried to unplug and plug power brick and then i noticed that the power brick indicator light is switching off as soon as i plug the cable to computer. So some short circuit removed the card from computer and yes everything works except the card. measured the power pins on the card and it is short.

    The day before.
Earlier day before the famous death of gtx980m, my gf rendered some video and it was around 3 hours, after the rendering complete she did not completely cooled the computer, she switched the computer off. So the heat was staying in the computer maybe weakening some parts.

    The first repair.
So short circuit, the only part in mind the Legendary power MOSFET, looked at the card ant they are 3 of them soldered the first one on the corner and the short is gone. So lets try to test the card in computer, sure there is 2 of them left maybe the card will start windows, and the the computers tried to start but after 2 unsuccessful starts switches to processor build in video card.

    The system specs.
i'm using MSI Dominator pro gt72 6qe, so yes laptop
it has one mxm card slot and build in processor card, the switching is done by pressing one button https://storage-asset.msi.com/globa...015-0422-0258-339852@faq_0000000001659_en.pdf shown here, when the light is on then it is using mxm card.
the laptop schematic is here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S2NILAZMluT_NhyyAv8kY_tSgKSqvEzQ/view
    (Vga swich on 37 page)
    (mxm on 17,18,28,30 page)
(mxm fan 31 page) yes the gpu fan also do not run until turbo boost button is pressed

    The second repair.
Ordered new mosfets https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32876491906.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4acd4c4dP6b1qE soldered them in, still the same problem, so must be the VRM, ordered some VRM chips https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32908929234.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4acd4c4dP6b1qE soldered the chip in, still the same problem, so the last hope is that the Phase driver is dead so ordering some more chips https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000199150561.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4acd4c4dP6b1qE soldered in and still nothing. at this point have no idea what can be the fault.

    The symptoms.
When i press the power button the gpu light lights up fans are working but after 3 seconds of black screen computer restarts and trays again, after second start fails the gpu lights switches off and computer starts with cpu gpu. It starts the windows but the mxm card are nowhere to be found in windows.

    The conclusion.
At this point i'm not sure what is preventing the mxm gpu from starting, is it cards problem or is it computers and thats why i need your help. the computer schematic i found, but the cards schematic is no ware to be found in internet. I hope someone can help me. Thank you.

Hmm... Well, since you fixed the fault and the card is powering on but failing to load past BIOS I would say it's the card. The only definitive test would be trying the card in another system or trying another card in this system. Seems everything else with the laptop works fine w/o the MXM in place. A cheap way to test this system is if you can find another MXM on Amazon and test it in your system. If it works you can keep it or return it and hunt for a better deal. If it doesn't work then it's probably BIOS / slot related or something more intricate on the MXM that's not easy to spot that needs replacement.

That's probably the best chance you have. Buy another GTX 980m and see if it works. And it's unknown whether the card will even be in working condition or will be the correct layout.
I'm unfamiliar if there are different MXM form factors either.
Can you take off the heatsink of your 980m and take a picture of it and see if something like this one is compatible?
