Hey guys,
I have a compaq v2000z (AMD Turion 1.6ghz w/512kb cache version) and been getting into gaming on my lappy. With the AMD and 768MB DDR 2700 and 128mb shared to the x200m, get about 20-30 fps playing HL2 at lowest resolution and high textures and stuff. Now my question is, Would an upgrade to like a ML-40 (2.2 ghz I think and 1mb cache) and 1gb or 2gb of DDR400 ram give me a more consistent and higher framerate? Trying to see if it would be worth while. Im hoping for at least +10 fps and less drop when things get crazy on the screen (which right now I get pulled down to like 10 fps). And sorry if I should of posted in the gaming area, wasn't sure if this was more of gaming question or upgrade question.
And yes I realize if I really want to gaming it would probably be easier to just buy a new laptop with a better video card but Im not crazy in that I have to have everything set to high, Im happy at 1024x768 or even 800x600.
Thanks for any help people.

That's not going to help much, if at all. The limitation is your GPU, so I think you've got about all you're going to until you move to another system.

upgrading with 1GB DDR400 RAM improve upto 10-15% framerate.
I do not think it would increase frame rate noticably with faster processor as it is more of GPU intensive.( But again you may little improvement which is not worth). -
ahhh ****, I guess I knew that was coming, just hoping I was wrong. *sigh* thanks for the help guys.
Should I consider at all?
