As far as I know those numbers are not available.
Besides the Intel numbers, I only know of the french retailer numbers. They're not specific for laptops though.

LOL. OT I know, but I hate that stat. "Drivers tend to have more accidents (within 25 miles) of their home" is what I hear. Well DUH! Most people only drive within 25 miles of their home on a daily basis. So 95% of your driving is close to home, so chances of an accident close to home is pretty high. lol.

Well the worst for me was going from a HDD to a SSD then back to a HDD after a week because of the whole OCZ fiasco.
The drive still worked great but just didnt have all the advertized capacity. -
I'm not sure that would be a good metric. Most users are woefully computer illiterate, thus (in my experience) anything other than a normal Windows == "my hard drive crashed".
Edit: Actually, I've found that this varies based on the news cycle. If malware was in the news recently, it's certain to be that. If Microsoft released a patch of some sort that made the headlines, that's "obviously" the problem, etc. "My hard drive crashed" seems the be the default explanation though.
