I'm making final decisions about my notebook, and and not sure about Wireless N - its an extra $39 upgrade from Dell, but I want the notebook to last a few years. Would spending the money on this be a good decision, or will B/G last a few more years? (I doubt the Mini-PCI card will be any cheaper in the future, if so, not by much...)

The Wireless-N spec isn't finalized yet. Each manufacturer makes what they think the standard will be, and each is slightly different. Point being, that if you buy a Belkin router with a Dell notebook, the two drafts of Wireless-N may be different and may not be compatible. If you are going to get it just to toy around with it, go for it. But if you're going to be serious with it and try to establish a home network or connect to any Wireless-N Networks in the future, wait until the specification is finalized before you plunge into any Wireless-N equipment.

I have 11n on my xps1210 notebook and it works fine with my dlink draft n router. Seeing how the final 11n is still going to be a few years away, I'd suggest you get it.

I was out for the weekend and accidently connected to a Wireless-N router, the download speeds were AMAZING, 1MB/s. I's say its worth the money.

I'd suggest getting Wireless N for one reason... that way your laptop comes pre-wired with 3 antennas.

Unless you research and find out the exact answer, there is the possibility that if you go with B/G, your laptop will only have 2 antennas. Then when you decide to upgrade to N, you'll have to somehow figure a way to mount a 3rd antenna inside your laptop or otherwise you'll be speed/distance limited when using N as wifi. N cards have 3 antenna hookups, B/G have 2 antenna hookups.
