So, I'm getting a new laptop, I'm going to keep my current one around for backup. Since RAM is so cheap I thought I'd upgrade it (only half a gig right now), since that's probably the biggest performance choke point. Looking at the manufacturer's webpage it indicates my laptop only supports DDR 333. I've got a ML-30 1.6 gig AMD CPU, in case that info helps.

Next, and most importantly, recommend to me what to put in there. Looks like 2 1GB sticks would be best option, is there a particular brand/model that you might recommend getting or avoiding? Or should I not even worry about it?
Also, this is my first venture into upgrading a computer, when I pop out the old RAM and stick the new RAM in what can I expect to happen/need to do the next time I fire up my laptop?
Thanks!

The DDR2 slots are different from the DDR slots and are not interchangeable. That said, if the RAM is compatible and not defective, your laptop should recognize it without an issue.

You won't be able to put DDR2 in there, DDR and DDR2 are 2 different physical shapes. Would be immpossible to put it into your laptop.

Wow, thanks for the speedy replies! With that settled, I'm probably going to purchase a pair of the cheapest sticks from Newegg.

Anything look terribly off before I proceed? How big a performance increse should I look forward to, given that I currently only have 150~MB of RAM free at a time (with nothing open)? -
shoelace_510 8700M GT inside... ^-^;
I think you are in the right spot to order the proper RAM... ^^
So pull the trigger and enjoy your increased performance.
Should I upgrade RAM, and would DDR2 work with my laptop?
