I ran a crucial.com scan on this system and learned: 1) that I have Intel series 5 chipset, 2) 43% free space on my 583.8GB HD and 3) that I am only using 4GB of memory when the system will max out at 8GB.

Would it make sense for me to upgrade the memory on this system ? Thank you.

It depends entirely on what you do with it. For common office applications and some browsing, without a lot of windows open, 4 GB should be plenty. For lots of windows open at the same time, or some big memory users (Photoshop, video editing software,...) you might want to consider an upgrade - especially if you have a vacant memory back - cost of a 4 GB card is relatively low. Best, Joe

One thing though, if OP currently has 2 x 2GB in his Toshiba then he'll need two 4GB modules.

And one more important thing: For laptops with Intel 4-series or 5-series chipset (i.e. laptops from Penryn or Nehalem/Westmere generation), when buying 4GB DDR3 modules, you have to buy the one with 16 chips (8 chips on each side). Those with 8 chips do not work. Trust me, I've tried.
