I was wondering whether these temps should bother me?

the gfx card seems ok but the CPU seems quite hot.

    CPU: t8300
    GPU: 8600 gt ddr2 - stock drivers

They are fine but hear of many with lower. Your CPU can handle 100C you are not close.

What is the temperature of the room you are in?

Those CPU temps are maybe slightly high where they are now but under idle that's good. You could also try undervolting to reduce those load temps a bit.

    Those are fine.

When i edit videos, the temp goes up to 56C in the GPU.

    So your good.

EDIT: My bad i thought we where talking about the GPU temps.

Are those "Idle" temps, or were you doing anything with your puter while HWMonitor was running?

If 57-58c are idle temps, then it's a little high, the T8300 should be in the 4Xc for idle temps. Undervolting is good and mostly for reducing the peak temperature, but it won't really drop the idle one, you might get a couple of degrees difference.

Idle temps, I had been playing CS:S which would account for the max temps.

I just wanted to make sure that my temps where acceptable and weren't going to do any significant damage in the near future. I’m not really too knowledgeable on CPU temps so I was asking as a precaution

    Thanks to everyone who replied.

Edit: i actually think my computer was still cooling down, after having HWmointor open for the past ten minutes while just surfing this site they have stayed under 55c.

Are the max temps of 71c anything to worry about?

Your max temps are fine, 71c is actually pretty cool for max temp without undervolting. Your idle is just a little high imo, but it's nothing really that bad.
