Hi all, I'm a little worried because my benchmarks are significantly lower than what other people are experiencing. Also the spikiness of the graph worries me a bit. Wondering what's the cause of the issue.

    Firmware: SD28
    Model: ST95005620AS (500GB 7200rpm)
    OS: Windows XP Professional (32-bit)
    Computer: Macbook Pro Early-2008

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Normal performance because you're running in the second partition.

The spikes in HDtune are also quite normal.

Hmm sorry, could you explain a bit about the running in 2nd partition thing and why it causes slower speeds?

Also do you know if there's anything I can do to make my Windows partition the first/main partition? I mostly use Windows 99% of the time so I think I'd definitely appreciate faster speeds in Windows.

Thanks so much for your help :)

The outer edges of a hard drive deliver the highest transfer rates. That's where the OS X partition is situated.

I wouldn't worry about it, the speed boost will not be noticeable.

If you do want to run your Mac Windows only that is possible. Probably best if you try find a guide. I think it's done by removing all Mac partitions during the bootcamp install procedure. Don't take my word for it though.
