So this may be a completely retarded question, and if it is, please tell me why... but is there any way to increase the number of simultaneous keys that can be recognized from a keyboard, or is that hardware limited? I ask because I installed EV:Nova on my Thinkpad, but realized that my keyboard only supports 2 simultaneous key presses (this proves somewhat problematic when I want to shoot, turn, and run the engines at the same time... let alone if the secondary weapons have to come in to play). I'm betting there's not much I can do other than get an external keyboard (not really an option), but I figured I'd at least ask just in case I might be lucky enough to be wrong.

On a related note... why is this issue never brought up on the what to buy forum when people ask about gaming lappies? I know I would be pretty pissed if i got a T500 or something to use for mobile gaming and found out I couldn't do more than 2 simultaneous key presses.

Are you saying ctrl-alt-delete doesn't work?

I'm sure it's not limited to two keys in every case, Trottel, but a lot of non-gaming keyboards do have issues with Shift + any WASD key in which a third key just won't work.

sirmetman, have you looked into a gaming keypad rather than a full size keyboard? The Belkin N52TE or Logitech G13 might be a good idea for you.

Looking closely at the post, it appears that the OP never said that Ctrl+Alt+Delete doesn't work. He's saying that playing games on his laptop is problematic since his keyboard recogizes at most two key presses at any one time while gaming.

    I never knew that, thanks.

He said his keyboard was limited to two keys at a time. Stop trying to pick a fight.

That's a good point, Trottle... it is 3 keys, I suppose. Regardless though, it's not enough. :)

I'm not picking a fight. It's obvious you didn't read the OP's thread well enough to understand that the keyboard situation he is having with his laptop is under gaming conditions... which he said was the case.

Well, from what SS posted, it looks like a hardware limitation, as feared. One of the reasons I got my Thinkpad in addition to my Sager was that the Lenovo is more portable. If I go buying external peripherals for it, it kinda defeats the purpose. :) Besides, it would be somewhat difficult to use those sorts of things while on the bus commuting every day. Ah well, guess I'll just deal with the limitation.

I'm glad to see that name calling is still your modus operandi when you're shown to be wrong.

To the OP, have you tried looking at a roll-up keyboard? I know it's not as portable as natively using your laptop's keyboard for gaming, but it's a much better option than carrying around a full slab of keyboard where ever you go.

Those roll up keyboards have worse ghosting problems than any laptop keyboard I've ever used. I kid you not, I had one of those for a month, and it could not do W+A or W+D.

That isn't true and you made it up.

The OP said that he found out his computer only allows 2 simultaneous key presses and that in a game he plays he wants to be able to press 3 keys at one time. I think "what kind of keyboard only supports 2 simultaneous key presses if ctrl-alt-delete is a very basic and important windows command?" so I ask if ctrl-alt-delete isn't functional on his computer.

You chime in to inform me that I'm barking up the wrong tree because if you look closely at the original post, he never said anything about ctrl-alt-delete and that he is talking about games. I question your motives for the post based on previous experience with you and do to the fact that asking about ctrl-alt-delete is fully relevant when the OP says he found out his computer doesn't support 3 keys pressed at one time.

You tell me it's obvious I didn't read the original post and that it's obvious I didn't understand what he was asking because he said the issue was when he was playing games. With "oh jesus" I roll my eyes at you and proceed to say that you are acting immature and are making stuff up as I've seen you do before. Your entire angle in this thread is to try to discredit my posts, maybe possibly in retribution for the "what is the BEST sound card" thread. It is quite obvious I did in fact read the entire post and understand it better than you. He never said the issue was gaming related; he stated that his computer supports only 2 key presses at one time and that he wanted to press 3 keys at one time because it would help in a game.

You claim I'm calling you names and that is what I always do when I'm proven wrong, but I called you nothing and I was not proven wrong. All I said was that you were acting childish, a fact that is hard for you to refute since you posted in this thread to show that you think I'm wrong and you make up stuff to try to further your point. Please show me where I am calling you or anybody else names.

In this thread right here, http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=425907, everyone can see for themselves how you treat others with contempt and a confrontational attitude, while blatantly falsifying events and things people said.

Funny. Didn't you just PM me that same exact post yesterday, Trottel? You'd think if I didn't give a hoot about your PM then, what makes you think I'd give a hoot about it now, only this time displaying it for all to see?

Seriously, get a grip. This is not the Trottel Show where you must consistently be front and center of all things. Just because I spurned your PM yesterday, doesn't give you the right to air your dirty laundry in a public venue where, surprise, surprise, no one gives a crap.

If I emotionally affected you that much that you'd have to first send me a PM, then try to call me out by posting that same PM publicly, you've got more problems that I thought.

Like you have any right to call anyone a troll...

Trottel is a good helpful contributor to this community. garetjax, I know you can be very helpful as well, but I really do think you take things a bit too personally, going off of this and my experience with you in any thread with the name Razer involved. :p

Not trying to cause anyone grief, man, but please do consider my advice.

Yet, I avoided the thread you posted in the Accessories forum about your new Razer Deathadder mouse review. Just stop while you're ahead 'shroom. I don't need your advice nor your 'two cents' feel good philosophy; it isn't wanted nor warranted.
