I bought a Philips X55 today. On the box, it stated that it has a 100GB hard drive, but when I clicked on My Computer>Local Drive C it told me that the total disk size was only 69.8GB. Can anyone explain this anomaly to me? The drive doesn't appear to be partitioned.

Are you sure that your HD isnt partition?
Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, and finally, click Disk Management on the right side.

Thanks for the tip! I did that, and yes, it is partitioned. What I can't figure out though is why there is 18GB of unallocated space. Does anyone know what this space is for?

Maybe backup image of the HD...when you first had it.
