I have been a lurker for a while; I am gradually putting together an external GPU with the invaluable help over on the eGPU experiences thread.

Recently, I have seen more and more devices claiming to be "USB Graphics Controllers" coming onto the market, with some impressive claims (e.g. Sunix: manages 2048 x 1152 @ 32bit, even asserts you can use "up to six" on one system..!)

It was my understanding that the lack of direct memory access over USB means the lag and CPU overhead of parsing so much data would render it useless for a device working in real time.

IEE1394, I can understand how it might work, but USB?

Anyone who can demystify this for me, I would be very grateful to.

    Thanks
