I just purchased Toshiba's x205-S9800, i just wanna confirm the information ive been looking up before i make a final purchase. To get the most out of the ram, and the notebook capability, the highest i would be able to get is DDR2 663mhz pc5300 correct? getting 800mhz would be useless since the FSB is 667mhz, right?. I read that pc5400 and pc5300 is pretty much the same, would it be worth it getting pc5400 since they are both pretty much the same price, and would the notebook be able to use pc5400, the notebook comes stock DDR2 663mhz pc5300. Also any recommendations on which ram to get, and which brands to stay away from would be appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance, sorry im such a tech noob

You are correct in your thoughts. PC5300/5400 are the same thing. Actually there is no such thing as PC5400, it is made up. On brands to buy. Only 4 Companies make the DRAM in all so not a lot difference. I would go to NewEgg and buy the cheapest. This site has a RAM Deals area. I would just make sure to get a lifetime warranty.

Like Powerpack said, all RAM chips are made by the same handful of manufacturers. The same usually goes for video cards and like devices; these things are only differentiated by packaging, warranty, and sometimes value-added features.

And compromising with a lifetime warranty affects you how?
