Kind of an odd question but could really use some input. My GF's laptop's mobo fried so she gave it to me to take apart/scavenge/have fun with. None of the components are too special except it does have a Slim Bluray optical drive(SATA I believe). Is there anyway I can (cheaply) use this for my desktop or turn it into a USB 2.0 external optical drive? Thanks in advance!
P.S I apologize if this is the wrong forum, seemed like the best fit.

Just get a SATA to eSATA connector:

If you really want an enclosure, you can get the Dell External Media Module (assuming it's a tray load 9.5mm drive, else you'd have to look elsewhere to fit a 12.7mm one):

Thanks for the good info, but it turns out it's ATAPI, which looks like I'm fairly SOL.
Slim BluRay optical enclosure?
