    do these exist?

    i see alot of Slim External DVD burners out there that are USB powered but require it to be plugged into 2 USB ports. Is there one that is only required to be powered by 1 USB port? If there are, any recommendations? thanks!!

    I am also open to any suggestions related to buying internal slim burners + slim external enclosures.

    I had an LG external burner w/ LightScribe that would run off of one USB port. It said it needed 2, but it worked fine for me off of one. Been over a year, so I don't remember the model number, sorry.

    Edit: It was this one: http://www.amazon.com/LG-GSA-E50L-Powered-External-LightScribe/dp/B001M58GYY Has come down 20 bucks since then. Excellent drive. Never had a failed burn or unreadable error, even with some old beat up cd's.

    Can do a DIY optical drive enclosure using either a sata or pata slim DVD:

    * 9.5mm pata unit + enclosure (link confirms single USB is enough to power it)
    * 9.5mm sata unit + enclosure

    I also remember a member posting a link to a Plextor solution, although it seemed more expensive than others available - but it was a single USB connection required (I'm believe).
