    I don't get it -- is this a mod you made, or is this the stock DVD-RW on the Gateway? Either way its neat.

    No I don't see the point either. The Gateway T-1616 (the one Lokster has) comes stock with a slot-loading drive. Its cool, but okay... :confused:

    Unfortunately no slot loading on t-1620. The box says it does, but it does not. Is gateway notorious with doing this. Another of their budget models stated it had dvd burner, but it actually ws just a cdburner/dvd reader.

    i had the opposite. in the box it didnt show the webcam but when i took it out the webcam was there.

    are there any disadvantages for this compared to the traditional popping-out dvd tray?

    1. They tend to be a bit noiser when loading or checking for discs.

    2. Many of the slot-loaders don't support 8cm discs.
