I was looking at some dimensions of slot loading drives, and all the ones i've seen said that the depth dimension included the bezel. When I looked at trays it didn't say that the depth included bezel. Does this mean the slot load won't fit where the tray would?

In all likelihood the drive will fit in the same spot as the tray drive does, but the bezel won't be uniform and won't look as smooth.

I think all Slim-Line Optical drives should be the same size. If buy OEM version, (No tray, caddy etc) you will have to remove tray from the one you are upgrading. Install your old tray on your new Slot load.
Bezels may not match, so what if ODD works better.
I did this changing from TSST L532A to DVR-K06, took about 10 minutes.
Need a very small phillips head screwdriver, be sure you know where everything fits Before removing screws! Draw picture of ODD upside down, place screws on diagram, beware of any little metal clips. Make sure you know which way to remount them
