I am trying to buy a well rounded notebook. And one of the things that i need help with trying to get is the CPU and the amount of RAM.

For the CPU....is it ok to have Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz? I mean, is it noteably fast enough for society? I am a multitasker so does make a considerable difference or do I need more.....

For the RAM, I have heard that I can just get 2GB and then upgrade it l8r. But like, do I really need to upgrade? Sure, Ill be playing a few games like BF2, COD5, Left 4 dead and maybe Far Cry. Does it make a difference with a 4GB RAM? Like i said, Im a multitasker but as a multitasker, do I need THAT much memory? I mean 4GB seems like ALOT...so much that u need to upgrade ur entire structure of ur operating system to 64-bit to get the full affect. Is it worth it? What are some of the..erm....'miracles' you can do with 4 GB that u cant do with 2GB. For example, if i wanted to alt+tab from a game....Will it change faster for 4GB than 2GB?

Again..just general questions that Im curious about.....

Sager NP8662 (Built on Clevo M860TU)

    www.xoticpc.org is a good site

this has an nvidia gtx 260m which will be great for the games you want to play..
i suggest getting a 2.4ghz of faster cpu, 4gb ram, vista 64 bit, and at least a 320gb hd. all 4gb ram can be used under 64 bit and 64 bit is pretty compatible with 32 bit programs. and yes, you will need 4gb. when i play rainbow 6 vegas 2 for about 2 hours, the memory usage hits around 70%..so 4gb will be needed, plus its not that expensive.

a p9500 is a good bang for the buck processor. and as far a ram goes 4 is so common b/c of the cheapness. it does wonders. and if i were you i would go for at least ddr2 800 or even ddr3 1066. and as far as games you need atleast a 256 bit bus card such as the 9700m gts or 9800m's or even old 8800m's or 3870's, 4870's. MSI's are good and ASUS and Gateway p-fx's or even some high end acer's. but dells are weak for the amount you spend and apples well, they are not game friendly.

Honestly, if you have dealt with old machines, any new system will be fast for you.
The 2.53Ghz dual core will be more than fast enough for almost all applications. Match it with 4gb of memory and a SSD and youre set.

if you upgrade the new devices with the old machine , there should be some problem with the machines. so update the computer only if it is necessary so that the compatibility will match with the old hard wares.

2.53GHz is definitely good enough for most games at present but most games now do require quite a bit of RAM, some even wants 2GB for itself so 4GB RAM is definitely the way to go especially since you're a multitasker. It's also quite a bit noticable when alt+tabbing out of bigger games if you have a bit more RAM. 4GB is like the standard nowadays it seems and it does seem futureproof. Also, I'm personally using a 64-bit OS right now and there's really not much of a problem with it. I don't see why people don't want 64-bit OS over 32-bits since most softwares nowadays are made compatible with 64-bits too

I do suggest looking into a good GPU too since having 4GB of RAM and a 2.53GHz CPU is pointless if you're going to be bottlenecked by the GPU
