Edit: I don't know why I put months as plural! It should be month

I guess it's probably because of the heavy usage (discharged for an hour 3 days a week, while discharged for an hour 45 mins twice a week) and it looks like it's catching up.

It's a 6-cell battery so it's gonna be going soon

I have my 9-cell battery which has been in storage so it should have 90+% of its battery life.

Also why are batteries still like 120 bucks for a 6-cell? Is the battery shortage that big?

I am not convinced this years earlier battery shortage is whats causing batterys high prices.

Batteries no matter what number of cells and what manufacturer command a high price from manufacturers because they know they can gouge the consumer.

If you were a manufacturer and you knew you were the only "reputable" company to offer a replacement of a part (battery) wouldnt you command a high price for it?

You can always get a third party battery which should do you fine.

    Ebay is your friend.

What you described doesn't sound like heavy usage to me.

Anyhow, look for a genuine Dell battery on eBay. Should be roughly $50, brand new.

I agree. Thats not exactly all to heavy of usage.

But depending on any amount of variables it is normal for your battery to be showing a bit of wear.

Btw, the 9 cell in my old XPS m140 kicked the bucket after roughly 16-18 months. Completely dead to 5 mins operating life.
