HEY! About to purchase an Aviator CX7 Duo from Hypersonic. Saw it has the new Duo processor....i had this problem earlier in regards to processor future. Will the merom fit in this slot if i wish to upgrade? This is all i need to know....processing future...otherwise, its the perfect computer for me...and if there are other clevo models of this laptop...let me know if they are cheaper

Yes, it will be pin compatible with existing Core Duo socket. The current chipsets(945) should also be compatible. At most the laptop manufacturer will have to update the BIOS to support Merom.
-
is the current Core Duo 64 bit?
-
core duo = dual core + 32bit
Merom (Core 2 duo) = dual core + 64bit -
sweet!!! so i dont need to worry about the core 2 duo until i need it cause i have that upgrade option....thanks a lot guys! Ill let you know how it turns out!

you should double check with hypersonic to make sure that this is not a preorder. b/c this clevo model doesn't seem to be completely available in the states.
as for your merom question, we know that it will fit and that you will get a performance boost. however, i don't know if there will be 64-bit capability without a bios update. -

ok i will ask them.
I already ordered a laptop but ill be willing to cancel if all this is true, because i do want everything that this Aviator has because of its upgradable future...and it seems to be more for cheaper than the laptop i ordered.
Here is the lappy i ordered from XoticPC.com:

For what you're getting, the CX7 Duo is overpriced. Sager just released their version of it, the NP5760, and it is considerably less. Right now if you place a pre order, there is a $100 discount. I recommend www.powernotebooks.com as a dealer for Sager notebooks. See their page for the specs here:

better question, when is this shipped? i need a computer by the 25th of june before i head to europe.
Sorry if this is getting annoying everybody...if you read my last topics ive ran into several issues before haha. thanks for all ur help -
Hard to guess, but they should be out by then especially since Sager has been late to the Core Duo party.
Will they ship by the 25th?? Maybe maybe not.
So does the Meorum fit in the Core Duo?
