    So, can I add a 2.5'' Samsung 128GB 840 Pro intended for desktops in a dv7-5000?

Don't I need any extra connectors?

Yeah I mean are the internals of the dv7-5000 ready for it or does it need any specialized converters to be standardized?

No need for any converters or connectors.

Are you sure? I remember it needed a special caddy etc.

It's like I'm being trolled. Why would I make it into a 3,5'' and not fit at all?

Anyway, I think I know what's going on. I need a SECOND 2.5'' drive, and it might require an extra cable/converter not included with the laptop.

We have an old HP laptop (broke so I took the HDD for an external enclosure)

There is an adapter between the drive and the HDD port. It should already be in the laptop from the existing drive

the other side is just a normal input for a 2.5" drive

And I don't need to replace the old drive as I said. I need to use a 2nd drive.

Ah... you didn't mention about the second hard drive, if you are going to replace the DVD drive with another SSD, you definitely need a caddy.

No, my mistake. I thought you were trying to put an SSD in a desktop. I misread the title or something... The SSD will fit as is.
