I have it sitting in my laptop, and I have no idea what it does. I know what a Smart Card is, but what can I use it for, and where can I get one? I want to use my computer to it's fullest potential, so I wanna know what it is, and where I can get these cards.

I have the exact same question! That's why I was dissapointed when I didn't receive one. I believe the use is as another piece of security such as the biometric scanner. I have a SmartCard but it's for my laundry so I don't want to mess that up... Leave a message if anyone has any further information.

Actually, I found this on HP's site...

Doesn't say what it does, but I think I have a hint, since the card says Protect Tools :) Oddly enough, HP does not list the nx9420 in the cmopatibility lists. The ones for the nx9420 comes in packs of 10 ($200 total). This single card is $20.

The Acer Travelmate 8200 series comes with 2 smart cards and reader for security. Its strange that HP includes the reader but no smart card.

Yeah, I was pretty upset to not find any SmartCard with the package. Would the SmartCard reader also be a writter? I wonder if i can load up money to that laundry card...
