So... anyone know when LED-Backlit WSXGA+ 15.4" panels are coming out?

    Hey people,

I've got an SL500 right now, and the CCFL-backlit TFT really sucks down a lot of power at usable brightness levels, so I'm really pining for something LED-backlit. However, it seems that my only options here are either WSXGA (1440x900) on 14.1" or WXGA (1280x800) on 15.4" (at least on Thinkpads - haven't really checked out anything else, because it's relatively uninteresting :D).

Do any other manufacturers offer matte (!) LED-backlit WSXGA+ or WUXGA TFTs on non-ultra-expensive notebooks? I'm talking ~1000€ here, so nothing like a W700ds :)

There are no current WSXGA+ LED panels on the market. You're only going to find WXGA/WXGA+ LED panels in 14/15" and WUXGA LED panels in 15/17". Look at the Dell/Lenovo/HP outlet for Dell Latitude E6400, E6500, Precision M2400, M4400, Lenovo T400, T500, W500, and HP Elitebook 6930p, 8530p, 8530w. You should be able to find most of these for <$1000€.

Any idea why this is the case? Are high-DPI-junkies second class citizens to LED panel manufacturers? :p

Or are WSXGA+ 15.4" panels being phased out?

Are you sure there's a T500 w/ WUXGA? Is it possible that that's a US-only model, because I can't find one for sale anywhere around here (Germany)...

The market is trending towards 16:9. You'll likely never see what you're looking for.

The upcoming Clevo W860CU has a 1600x900 LED, te closest you'll get.

You might need to look at the W500 for the WUXGA screen, but it won't be LED. I think only the Dells I listed have WUXGA LED screen.

You are going to have to either move to 15.6" 16x9 or pay out the wazoo for what you are looking for.
