Is there a way to tell what screen/panel a laptop has, without disassembling it?
So far, the best tool I found to detect the screen model and manufacturer is Monitor Asset Manager (moninfo), but it can't detect the model of the screen in my ASUS EEE 1000HE. All I get is "Manufacturer............. HannStar, Plug and Play ID......... HSD03E9". Sites like http://lcdtech.no-ip.info/en/data/lcd.panels.in.laptops.htm list only a few laptop models.

Use a tool like HWiNFO32 or SIW(System Information for Windows).

Thanks for the recommendation. Tried them both, but none detected more information about my ASUS EEE 1000HE screen than "Digital Flat Panel (1024x768)". Looks like they read Windows registry information, vs. querying the display hardware like Monitor Asset Manager does. So far, Monitor Asset Manager is the only tool that detected the manufacturer (HannStar).
On a side note, HWiNFO32 didn't detect any other disks than the laptops' build-in hard drive. SIW detected a USB-attached HDD, my Nexus One, and the laptop's SD card reader.
Software utility to identify screen?
