Just wondering if anyone here has had the oppertunity to play or test with the new Samsung 32GB Solid State IDE HDD's yet?

    There was a review HERE
showed great promise as this was based around a UMPC with a 900MHz Celeron CPU in it!!

Well, they have 4GB USB keys now. I'd imagine if you link a few of them together, make it with PATA interface, and charge a few thousand dollars more, you'd have a solid state HDD.

Anyhow, I don't know if it'll be cost effective in the near future. But it's darn fast. :)

These Samsung ones will be available end of Jan to the channel and prob retail as well.
Prices are sky high at the mo, however, I'm tempted to spend a few hundred on one of these and I'm as tight as a badgers backside! So I figure these will sell and prices will drop pretty quick.

OFC we also have hybrid drives to look forward to but I was jus wonderin'....

They actually have 16GB flash drives now; they go for $300:

Kind of ridiculous though. If you need that much storage, it's best to go with a 2.5" external hard drive.
