    Hi there!
I've got GTX670m for my M980NU (sager). Installed it BUT there were some problems: BIOS identified it as "unknown" so I needed to use mod INF file to instal video driver.
That was not end of problem - the card works but just in 2D mode (perfomance level (0) P12 and perfomance level (1) P8. I couldn't make it to swich in 3d mode (full power)

What is the reason of this limitation and how to fix it?

Any information, advice or recomendation is appreciated
    Thanks in advance

I'd like ask m980nu owners to join this thread and share with upgrade experience

Partial solution was found. VideoBIOS mod from Prema. Now the compuer works almost like with two gtx280SLI :) but with DX11

Chances are you need to update the system BIOS, or possibly mod the vBIOS. Did modifying the .inf and getting the OS driver for the card allow BIOS to detect it?

Yes. HWinfo64 and GPUZ showed full recognition. The card's working at P8 state OC'd to 203/412/405 MHz (NVIDIA inspector)
The voltage can not be changed (0.800V only)
But that's about SMB rather than BIOS.In BIOS it's still unknown VGA
In addition, the external monitor out is working correctly NVIDIA driver shows all info as well.

Really sounds like a vBIOS mismatch to me. If it were an incompatible card you would know it at boot, but it appears it works, albeit the few quirks you have.

You can look into another vBIOS but I'm afraid that's not quite my area of expertise, and we don't supply any. A fellow NBR user might be able to help you though. :)

It could be the best solution to get modified Phoenix BIOS for M980nu with new VGA cards support. I guess I'm not just one who is interested in such BIOS modification. Any suggestion how and where is possible to request modification?

I think Prema might be your best source here on NBR. You can send a PM. Otherwise you'll need to go on the hunt.

    Thanks!
I've already contacted Prema. Tried flashing with 570m BIOS (unsuccessful). Waiting for mod or another solution.

What's your expert opinion: can qx9300 OCed to 3.1GHz be a serious boltleneck for 2 gtx670m SLI system?

The bus/core ratio could be better, but all in all I can't see an extreme series really hold you back much - if at all. That 12 MB of cache certainly helps though. :)

    THX for your opinion.
I'm in process of testing modified vBIOSes.
What do you think about posibility of SLI in my particular case? Should it work with modded vBIOSes?

If you can keep the thermals under control even with the qx9300, then it's all a matter of testing the vBIOS against the system for compatibility. Just be careful not to brick it! I can't speak for a modded vBIOS really, but your system supports the dual GPU interface (SLI) at least.
