Hi im looking to upgraded my hard drive but was just wondering what are some fast 7200rpm drives? For about $50 ive heard some good things about the Hitachi E7K1000 but i just wanted to get some more input. Im looking for something with the best performance for around 50 to 100 dollars. thanks

E7K1000 is a 3.5" drive. It will not fit in a laptop.

Keep in mind that a high capacity 5400rpm HDD will be faster than a low capacity 7200rpm HDD due to a higher platter density on the 5400rpm drives.

If you're set on getting a 7200rpm HDD for your laptop, I'd recommend the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9500420AS 500GB 7200rpm. It's currently the fastest drive on the market for a laptop, but will probably be in the $140-$150 price range.

In the $50-$100 range, your best option would be the Western Digital Scorpio Black WD3200BEKT 320GB 7200rpm (link HERE).

The high-capacity 5400rpm drive will beat the lower-capacity 7200rpm drive in maximum sequential transfer rates, but the 7200rpm drive will easily beat the 5400rpm drive in random access (seek) times. And for most general desktop use, the random access times are just as important -- and very possibly more important -- than the sequential transfer rate.

Price wise the Hitachi 7k320 is tough to beat right now at $48. I have the Seagate 500GB 7200.4, which is the king of the hill performance wise, but you won't get it for $100 at the moment. There's a 250GB single platter version, but I've not seen it for sale yet.

The link you provided is the 7K320 :p
The 7K320 performs nearly identical to the WD3200BEKT. It does not matter which one you buy, if your loyal to one company, go with which ever you want, the Hitachi just has the better price at the moment.
