So I recently got a Meze 99 Classics headphone and wanted to let you know that they work really well with Clevo P775. I made a throughout review of them, but the main headline is that they work really well for any activity you do on a laptop, from gaming to audiophile grade music! Really comfy and priced very well considering their quality!

I will be adding my reviews and works to this thread, just in case someone needs a bit of help when purchasing headphones! Maybe this will come in handy for some people at some point :)

Meze 99 Neo review - less expensive than Meze 99 classics, bust just as good!

In the past, I too have enjoyed sampling some great audio gear. I have not heard these particular models, but noting how these headphones are better able to respond to better source gear is a truth most don't appreciate. It seems that both you and I know that it is not marketing nor a placebo effect for the differences we can hear.

Music isn't just a bunch of notes. Music has soul and a heart that only a few components out there today can convey to the listener.

Thanks for the review, brings back great memories when my hearing, time and love for music was where you seem to be today. :)

    Thank you very much!

I always insist that music is more than musical notes, music is like a meaning to life itself :D

By the way, I've written another review for a similar headphone, Meze 99 Neo. Even less expensive, but just as good!

There are people who are looking for the slimmest smartphone, and there are people who want the absolute best audio quality while on-the-go.

    Which one are you? :D

I guess I don't care much for slim and small devices, I want the best quality possible. For the reference, this is an outside setup and carrying it in a sidebag is no problem. Guess that as long as 5KG laptops + their 2 KG power bricks are not a problem, an audiophile stack is more like a slim smartphone to notebook enthusiasts

My concern there is apparently these are a new driver. The old ones, in the unit I have, are a well known high quality driver. As we know newer is not always better.

I would't trust Hyper-X to make headphones to be honest, I always go for audiophile headphones if I want something to enjoy. They always sound better for music as well! On the other hand, Audiophile products are a bit more expensive. For exmaple, I can wholeheartedly recommend Meze 99 Neo headphones at their 250$ price point if you want to make the stretch.

For gaming headphones, I heard about half of the ones available in Romania, especially the expensive ones.

Every single one of them was severly outclassed by a 50$ Shozy Zero IEM https://www.head-fi.org/f/showcase/shozy-zero-iem.21474/reviews , this was also confimed by everyone who heard Shozy Zero as they regreted purchasing any kind of gaming headphones shortly after. This is something interesting especially as I generally don't recommend Shozy Zero, but if you need in ears that do gaming well, Shozy Zero is unbeatable, even by 300$+ gaming headsets.

On the other hand, if you want a headphone under 250$ to play games with , Sennheiser HD5XX series should do justice althogh they are open back.

I personally can not do ear bud style for extended periods of time. They aggravate my ears to no end. My ear channels need to breath or they get uncomfortable.

I much prefer the over ear closed style. While the Meze looks to be a very nice setup I am more than satisfied with the one I have. Now the other ones available at the time I went into this, including the Hyper-x, had different drivers that were no where near as good. These were a fluke by them, the other offerings were just no where near as good. This is why I only recommend this set and that is while you can still get them.

Edit, what I went by, besides trying as many as I could, last year:

I would recommend an open-back headphone if you game in a relatively disturbance free environment. The gains to positional tracking and feeling "immersed" is immense. Of course, it's always better to have one of both kinds ^^

I personally have the AKG K7xx, I have to use an amp with them... but they are phenomenal.

Plan on getting the Classics soon, as I like their style and they will be put to use when there are disturbances around ^^

Both K7xx and 99 Classics are excellent choices! They have different signatures, but I like them both! Might also add Senn HD600 to that list, with the little mention that it also requires amplification.

My situation is of such nature that I cannot really own and use open back headphones as much as I would like, but if someone can use a pair, they are indeed great for many things. The one thing that closed back might get better at times is the impact and amount of bass, but there are open backs that are known to be pretty bass heavy as well!

I prefer AKG, Sennheiser, Beyer Dynamic, Audio Technica, Grado or the best Sony cans for music, even if one must lug a headphone amplifier in your bag. Quality audio is necessary for nice musical reproduction and also great for one's sanity and peace of mind.

Every company has very diverse models, I strongly recommend testing the model you want to get before getting something.

For example, Sennheiser makes both really bassy closed--back headphones like HD630VB as well as audiophile, open back, neutral headphones, like HD600. Each model has its sound and it is a must to test them before buying.

I dislike Audio Tehnica ath m-50, but I really like their atx-a700x, the two headphones have very little in common.

    I recommend Superlux
    Audio quality: Excellent
Build quality: ~~ Average but not bad
    Price: I'd call it cheap
    Price per quality: Insane ratio.

I had Superluxes, AKG's, Sony etc. but these got best price per quality index... And there is many versions of them so we can match them with their "destiny" (music type, gaming etc). Currently I have 668B (B = Balanced) ones.

Heard good things about them actually. If someone is very restricted in their budget, I heard that superlux makes killer deals indeed.

I wouldn't place my trust in them being better than 300$ - 500$ headphones and above, but at their price point, they might and should be excellent choices. Might be better than the typical gaming headphone anyways, I would think that superlux is audiophile entry-level quality.
