    Hello everyone!

I was just wondering if I can install a nvme m2 SSD drive in my Clevo P650.

As far as I know I have two additional M2 ports while one of them is PCI connected.

If I'm right I would be able to install and get Nvme benefits in that M2 pci port, am I right? I'm certainly not sure because the laptop is 4 years old and I haven't seen any Bios option NVME related.

I'm currently running with a HDD and Evo 950 SSD both connected via Sata and I'm really curious about what improves I could get by installing one of this.

    Thank you.

Unless you're doing a lot of file transfers, you're not going to see much benefit moving to NVMe. Also, with the P650 line of notebooks, once you've populated the PCI-Express slot with a compatible drive, you can no longer use the other M.2 slot for anything but a cellular modem. Another storage device will not work.

But will it work without any setUp? Plug and play?

That's my main concern, I've been reading about AHCI vs Nvme, but I don't see such setting anywhere.

I already have two storage devices installed, just looking for some extra storage, and testing nvme speeds If possible.

    Thank you!

If you’re using Windows 8 or 10, it’s plug and play. For Windows 7, you’ll need drivers from the maker of the SSD. There are recompiled ISOs of that OS which incorporate them, USB 3.0, and others so seek one of those out if that’s what you plan to use.
