    Hi!

Is there som good software that can (more or less) exhaustively detect hardware?

Any other ideas apart from software? (Computers serial/manufacture number etc.)

It has been reported that at least HP/Compaq is using multiple brands of LCD's.

Some brand(s) are said to be excellent (Samsung?) and others have a dirty/shimmer effect, sometimes at first not noticeable.

Hence it's very interestingly to know...

    Thanks

There is not a way of knowing what panel you have. You need to take it apart to get the serial number, and even then it would take some work to figure it out.

One way is to get friendly with the resellers on the forums here and ask them :D

I don't know what kind of laptop you have, but maybe you could give it a shot and ask Justin from Proportable or Eddy from geared2play or the many others on here.

    Cheers,
