    Hey all,

I have this DVD writer in my recently purchased Dell e1705/9400. The write speeds weren't great with my fast media and the drive was a bit cranky overall.

    I located a much newer firmware, UYS3, here: http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html

The drive is so much better now it's absurd. Ridiculous that Dell ships them with such bad firmware. Passing along.

i have the same drive and updated with the same firmware and now my drive only reads DVD's or DVDR's and it wont read CD's or CDR's Now. i tryed to flash it back with the one on dell's site but i get this.

No matched drive detected ! this utility is only for SONY DVD+-RW DW-Q58A drive.

    1-0-0-0 D:SONY DVD RW DW-Q58A UYS3

Anyone have any idea's what i can try to delete this firmware off the drive or overwrite it?
