    Hi all,

Does anyone know if the VGA out port on the SZ780 has video out capability where I could just use a VGA to S-video dongle?

    Thanks,
    Ho'okani

Wouldn't you need a TV card for S-video?

    Ok.
Well, ask one of the admins to move this thread into hardware.

Your graphics cards are an Intel X3100 and an Nvidia 8400GS

I don`t think that cable works. I bought one and the best it displayed was a black and white garbled screen. Something like this product might be required:

PC 2 TV LAPTOP CONVERTER VGA Input VGA/S-VIDEO/RCA Out

Convert your VGA signal to be viewed on any TV, projector, or any other viewing device that uses standard TV connectors with this simple external device. Converts a VGA signal into an S-Video or RCA signal – use your TV as a PC monitor, Great for presentations, web-browsing, PC online games, pictures, and movies.

Maybe you just had the wrong settings for the output, many that isn't familliar with tv-out via s-video or composit aren't aware that it's very common to get black/white picture if not having the correct settings connected to the TV.

Anyhow, VGA is just like tv-out but for computer screens, so yes, it should work to a tv with that VGA to s-video/composit. I use my Samsung 32" LCD-TV togheter with my VGA out.

Are you using VGA to composite or S-Video and NOT VGA to component or direct VGA ? Because I've tried VGA to S-video/ composite cables with several different notebooks and TVs, none of the combinations worked. Therefore I'm not so sure about those simple cable converters anymore.

On the other hand a signal converter like this will definitely work.
