    Hi,

I recently bought a Sony VAIO CW series and I'm quite happy with it except for the LED display :( I'm having a hard time reading forums on this laptop because of the bad contrast (hard to see the fonts).

Now I'm wondering if its possible to replace the current LED display with a WLED display (same quality on STUDIO XPS laptops) or even a RGB display on this laptop?

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

Do you mean only DELL has those good quality displays (RGB LED & WLED)?

PS: I don't intend to use DELL models, just looking for the same display quality.

Is it really that bad? I know CW doesnt use the best displays but you should be able to read well. You may want to try lowering the gamma, it can improve contrast.

By the way your LED display is WLED.

You could try buying another 14" 16:9 display. Ebay is usually good for displays. It won't be easy knowing the real contrast rate upfront though. Unless you can find out what display Dell Studio 14 uses (if you are sure that's a good display).

    Thanks for chiming in.

I'm surprised to know that its a WLED too because when I compared it my XPS, the white background on CW looked pinkish white while the XPS looked pure white.

I would also like to know how easy/hard will it be to swap the LED display on a laptop, any link?

Sounds like you need to calibrate the display. You might want to look in the Nvidia settings. That's where the gamma settings is too.

I have never replaced a LCD but I've heard it's not easy.

You can use this as reference. Look at the stickies here as well, your model disassembly might be there.

And actually it's not that hard at all to replace one. ;)

Yep. Did calibrate the display which helped a lot but still not so comfortable for reading text with white background.

Gonna try to adjust gamma again.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the links.
