    Hi everybody,
I actually have 4GB of memory in my VAIO.
Some months ago I red on this forum someone who was selling 2 x 4GB Memory for a VAIO VPCZ2.
I'm living in Belgium and it's impossible to buy it from Sony. I try to find 2x4G on ebay but in vain. As this memory is very specific it's very difficult to find modules.

Is there someone who can sell 2x4GB or give me the name of a shop where I can make an order ?

    Thanks.

How is it specific? It should not be in so far as there are standards. You know so stuff works. For Memory it would be JEDEC that set them up. Yes there can be deviations but not so deviant as to create the circumstance you describe.

What is your RAM? I bet I can get what you want from NewEgg for $40 so even with shipping might work.

I am so sorry I guess you are between my soldered and standard RAM. Odd size and all. Well at least you have a shot with my soldered stick I have zero. Good luck buddy.

Why does living in Belgium omit you from purchasing from Sony? This being a proprietary form factor, that seems very inconvenient to you.

I tried Crucial's website but your model does not show up in their list. :(

Well it's the answer from the Sony Shop here in Belgium.
I also proposed to send my notebook for the upgrade but the answer was it isn't possible with this model.
I have to find it by myself.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

Sorry to bump this old thread but it might help you and some others.
The Vaio Repair Center VAIO Repair Center - Centre d'expertise et de réparation agréé SONY VAIO located in paris does this kind of stuff, but it is expansive...
You cannot buy the modules and install by yourself.

I am in the same situation as you and the upgrade costs 298€ !!!
    Altough the warranty is preserved.

    Cheers.
