    Hello Group,

My Sony VGNAW360J has the R11, dial-up, jack plugged up.

Can it be made functional? See http://i50.tinypic.com/6z97h1.jpg

    Happy 2010.

Should be easy, if you can find a compatible modem to install. *Not a modem/dial up expert, but *in theory* it should be simple.

The port seems to be deliberately plugged, which may mean that the computer doesn't have a functional modem to begin with. This is increasingly common on new models since fewer people are faxing or using dial-up internet. You could try removing the cover, but its likely not functional.

Thus my comment regarding finding a compatible modem to install: "Should be easy, if you can find a compatible modem to install. *Not a modem/dial up expert, but *in theory* it should be simple."

I would think that if the port is plugged, then there is no modem there to begin with.

Most new models have an integrated modem if they have a modem at all.
