I was wondering if i could use my core 2 duo p8400 in my 7811fx and put it in my sony vaio AR because i am getting a core 2 extreme for my 7811 and i dont want to just go and sell the chip if i could use it inside of my sony vaio AR, interested in hearing your answer

Also if i cant, what would be a good CPU upgrade over my T7100?

I'm not too sure it won't work. I read somewhere that they do fit, they will just work at a lower FSB (800 instead of 1066).

I'm totally not sure about this, this is just what I read somewhere.

I'll move your thread to the hardware section, you'll probably get more response there.

thanks, but i've decided that probably since the p8400 wont work i'll go with either a t9300/T7700/T7500 more or less it will be the first 2 though thanks for the help though.

your sony should support any non extreme 800Mhz FSB processors. That means you should be able to upgrade to even the T9500 if you so desired. I do not think that the sony bios will support any core 2 extreme mobile processors, because I have never seen anyone with a extreme and a Sony.
Make sure you update the Bios on your machine to the latest revision before upgrading the processor, so that it has the greatest chance of being recognized.
