    hey Guys,
i got a vaio X series with SSD MLC samsung 256GB
suddenly it cant see the hard drive
    in bios it says NONE.
    i was just wondering,
if this might be the issue of the hard drive itself, its controller (flat cable)
    or Some bios Update
Plz if anyone can help me about any suggestion will be greatfull

Try it in another system (even in an external enclosure) and see if it works there to rule out the existing cable.

If it is seen in another system, but still can't be seen in the original system - move/copy the data off if it (first!) and try to update the Firmware - even if it is the same version.

With any luck, you'll be able to revive your drive fairly painlessly.

Otherwise, time to RMA for another one (that I would sell as soon as I received it and buy an Intel 510 Series 250GB model).

    Good luck.

Thank you, and i understand its the best solution,
But actually, i cant find a usb kit forthe 1.8 inch SSD arround.
so i cant define if its the hard drive problem or the flat, i mean, does it happen out of nowhere that such expensive SSD hard drive stops?
buying a new ssd wil cost me a lot(if the problem wasnt originally from the hdd)
flat cable is out of question, been looking for ages on the net havent found the model number,
and as for the kit, i found on ebay people selling it from hong kong, and they do not deliver to where i live.

Don't think you need a special 'kit' for it?

Just get a cheap/normal USB enclosure - you may have to pick up an adaptor plug too - you don't need the enclosure to look pretty to try it: simply use the pieces to get the SSD connected to another system to narrow down what the problem is.

And, unfortunately, yes, SSD's do just die - they're not the magic black boxes they're made out to be. :(

If you do find that the drive is alive and healthy, then it should be a much smaller cost to send the system to Sony to repair/replace the cable for you.

Of course, it might not be the cable - it could be the M/B, but let's try one step at a time for now. (The reason I mentioned this is not to scare or discourage you - I just want you to know what you might be getting into - in other words, you wouldn't send in the system and say 'get this computer running for me' because you could be surprised with a huge invoice if it happens to not be the cable but something much more expensive, like the M/B).

    Good luck.
